My Raven Haired Beauty...

This is the update. I had trouble sleeping last night because of the news that it's a girl. Even though I was early for an ultrasound that would sex the baby, she was an acrobat with legs wide open. The magic three lines were there and the tech gave us a 98% chance, offering this little tidbit, "I'm saying it's a girl". I had been feeling all along that I would have another daughter, even before I conceived and was giving up hope, I knew if we ever had another child she would be a girl. So I'm not surprised at all...just a little tired.

When Mena hit her two's in stride, fear took over and I REALLY wanted another boy. One that would maybe play in the dirt, and like trucks, and perhaps spend hours outside in the summer rather than crying because "the sun blinds me!"

Though I probably wouldn't have had that boy anyway. That boy would have asked for a chemistry set for his second birthday and would be building a time machine, powered by the 4 main elements (earth, wind, fire, water) and creating historical gene maps to help pinpoint the exact date of arrival for this time machine, with his older brother by his third. What I wouldn't give for a child that begs to play outside!

So here are the dreams I shared with my friend Loralee via facebook: "...this [girl] is going to be different. I'm going to name her Lucy or, or Anne and she's going to recite The Highwayman while wearing soft summer frocks...sniff...and play with dolls...whimper...and tea sets...and she WON"T scream "Don't help me! I hate help!" (cyring softly into my own shoulder).

Also, I'm praying that this little widget will have black wavy locks like her father, and sparkling blue eyes that stay blue like her grandfather. And we are going to lean towards more soft purples in her wardrobe so as to differentiate her from the pink princess that is Baby Mena as well as a nod towards her grandmother Marie who LOVED purple. If you have any lilac infant outfits ready for the goodwill we will happily swallow our pride and accept them ;-)

If you've been under a rock...

So as you already know Allison and I are pregnant. She is approx. 10 days ahead of me in gestation but because I am a lucky NW Ohioan who can't have VBAC's I'll probably deliver before her depending on the doctor's surgical rotation.

That being said she had her ultrasound last week and found out she is having a boy. I on the other hand am having mine tonight at 6:30 and am prepared to not know a gosh darn #@#$@#$ thing! My doctors have scheduled my dating ultrasound so early! I'm only 16.5 weeks along and they don't usually date until weeks 18-20 and this is after I pushed it for three weeks. So I'm sitting her with my fingers crossed that we'll know since I'm only given 1 ultrasound by my insurance.

This is it until the end of July and this writer has got to start working on names! Especially since this my last chance to create the perfect name. I've never been shy about the fact that I've never loved my kids' names. At least aspects of them were not my first choice. And I kind of feel that a child's name is a gift, a blessing if you will, from mom (and dad too, I suppose, blech). Wish me luck that this widget is floatin' free and uninhibited!!!!
